How to get to San Sebastián and DIPC?

Donostia-San Sebastián is located in the northeast of the Spanish Basque Country: 110 km from Bilbao, 500 km from Madrid, and 800 km from Paris. Here we collect some information on how to get there.

By plane:

By train:

The Adif train station “Estación del Norte” is in the center of San Sebastián, close to Urumea river. It offers connections to several Spanish cities, including Madrid and Barcelona. There is also Metro Donostialdea, popularly known as “Topo”, a narrow-gauge train connecting San Sebastián (main station in Amara) with cities along the Basque Coast, from Bilbao to Hendaye (France).

By bus:

The San Sebastián bus station has lines to cities throughout Spain. The main company traveling here is Alsa.

By car:

The city is connected to the rest of Spain by the N-1 (Madrid-Irun highway), AP-8 (Bilbao-Irun highway), and A-15 (Pamplona-San Sebastián highway).

Within town:

San Sebastián has a dense network of public transportation. You can find the best connection on the DBus website. The bus stop closest to the main bus station (where the buses from Bilbao arrive) is called "Iparreko Geltokia". The town is not big: it's about half an hour's walk from the bus station to the Palacio Miramar (and the walk is quite nice, mostly along the beach). DIPC is located in the western part of town (coord: Latitude: 43.30556 | Longitude: -2.01062) a good half hour's walk from the train station (see here for a high resolution map).
